Document Icon IQ Gap Narrowing Between Ants, Humans
From CNN.com:
"Ants can teach each other"

"British researchers said on Wednesday they had uncovered the first proof of teaching in non-human animals -- ants showing each other the way to food."

Absolutely amazing. Maybe these ants can teach some Katrina refugees how to swing a hammer.

"The ants studied over two years by scientists from Bristol University used a technique known as tandem running -- one ant led another ant from the nest to a food source.

It was a genuine case of teaching as ant leaders observed by Professor Nigel Franks and Tom Richardson slowed down if the follower got too far behind. If the gap got smaller, they then speeded up."

Document Icon Mr. President, my stated intent is to annoy the shit out of you.
Now come and get me. Or, stop handing down vaguely-worded, Nazi-esque decrees. From CNET:

"Last Thursday, President Bush signed into law a prohibition on posting annoying Web messages or sending annoying e-mail messages without disclosing your true identity."

Even more disturbing: "This ridiculous prohibition... is buried in the so-called Violence Against Women and Department of Justice Reauthorization Act. Criminal penalties include stiff fines and two years in prison." (emphasis added for retards who do not understand the huge potential for abuse of this.)

Who's to decide the definition of 'annoy', anyhow?

Document Icon No Peace in the UK
The self-chosen elite are cracking down. Peace is now illegal in the UK. After conditioning the public to accept 24/7 video monitoring for speeding drivers, the cameras are now being used for more sinister purposes. From the Telegraph:

"A motorist who made V-signs at a police speed camera has been convicted of dangerous driving and banned for a year."

Draconian?

Document Icon Central American foreign ministers confused about the definition of "criminal"
In response to an immigration bill approved by the House of Representatives in December and going before the Senate in February, foreign ministers from five central American countries issued this statement: "Migrants, regardless of their migratory status, are not and should not be treated like criminals." According to Dictionary.com, the definition of criminal is "Of, involving, or having the nature of crime." Furthermore, crime is defined as "An act committed or omitted in violation of a law forbidding or commanding it and for which punishment is imposed upon conviction." So, when these central American ministers are telling the US that we should disregard a migrant's migratory status, they are really telling us to let criminals run free within our country. Beyond the fact that ILLEGAL immigrants are criminals because they don't have guest worker or citizen status, they are criminals because they don't have to pay taxes (even though many end up having children who attend public schools that are funded by the very taxes the illegal immigrants don't pay). It should also be noted that, according to Lou Dobbs, 33 percent of the prison population in the US is comprised of non-citizens. illegal immigrants are criminals, and should be treated like criminals. The only difference is that we can deport them to whatever country they came from, and should do so at the cost of the country of origin! That way, when the Mexican president "promises" to reduce immigration to the US, he'll have to.

Document Icon NYC Paralyzed, Strikers Face Impossible Fines
For the second day in a row, New York City remains in a state of paralysis after public transit workers went on strike, effectively shutting down the system. The union itself is facing charges of $1 million per day, with individual union members facing fines of $25,000 per day, doubling daily.

The kicker, however, is this: the fines were imposed by apparently 'retroactive' legislation, passed Tuesday afternoon in an attempt to get workers back to their posts as quickly as possible.

"You can't break the law and use that as a negotiating tactic," Mayor Bloomberg whined at a press conference.

Well, neither can you make the law and use that as a negotiating tactic.
